Medical Fitness for DGCA CPL Pilot Ground Training
All candidates wishing to pursue pilot training in Bangalore must be proven medically fit. Medical assessments are mandatory and a two-step process.
Class 2: medicals can be done throughout India by DGCA-approved Class 2 Medical Examiners. After a successful medical assessment, candidates will receive a CA-35 assessment form as fitness certification. The medical examination reports will be sent to the DGCA office, after which you will receive a final medical assessment from DGCA.
Class 1 Medicals: The Class 1 medical assessment is available in only five Indian cities – Mumbai, Banglore, Delhi, Chennai and Johrat. Candidates can only request the Class 1 medical assessment date after receiving the Class 2 assessment from DGCA.
File Number: Along with your Class 2 assessment, you will be issued the file number. The file number is permanent and unique to each individual.
Theory Papers

DGCA conducts CPL theory exams for all subjects four times a year. You need not take exams in a specific order. You can choose to appear for exams according to your preparations. Flight Training
DGCA has made 200 flight hours mandatory for becoming a pilot, and flight training helps you learn and hone flying skills and complete the required hours. You can choose from numerous flying schools and flight instructors to develop your flying skills and become an amazing pilot.

- 100 HOURS PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC)
- 250 NAUTICAL MILES (NM) CHECK
- 40 HOURS INSTRUMENT FLIGHT, OUT OF WHICH 20 MAY BE ON A SIMULATOR
- 50 HOURS SOLO CROSS COUNTRY
- 120 NAUTICAL MILES (NM) CHECK
- 10 HOURS MULTI-ENGINE
- 300 NAUTICAL MILES (NM) CHECK
- 10 TAKE OFF AND LANDING BY NIGHT
After clearing the DGCA CPL theory papers and completing the flight training, you must showcase your flying abilities during a flying skills check with a DGCA-appointed examiner. After completing your skills check, you can submit the required documents and your flying logbook to DGCA to get your Commercial Pilot licence issued.
